Are SARMs Legal in Australia?

Are SARMs legal in Australia

SARMs are a group of products that most people don’t know much about. This acronym stands for selective androgen receptor modulators. These substances are very similar to steroids and are extremely popular among bodybuilders and fitness professionals.

The biggest difference between anabolic steroids and SARMs is that SARMs don’t have the same androgenic properties. As the name implies, they work selectively within the body.

Because of that, you’re able to avoid certain negative effects that traditional steroids have. To make things even better, SARMs can differentiate between androgenic and anabolic activities.

Before we answer the question of whether SARMs are legal in Australia, let’s explain a bit more about these substances and why they’re so popular. Check it out!

How do SARMs work?

SARMs stimulate receptors in our body. They focus on receptors that are present in muscle and bone tissue.

By stimulating them, muscles and bones throughout the body will become stronger, denser, and in case of muscles, leaner. This makes SARMs ideal for people who want to lose weight, but also increase their muscle mass.

One of the biggest issues with anabolic steroids is that they work throughout the body. Besides the muscles, they will also affect interior organs like the liver and prostate.

Because of that, prostate cancer and other ailments are common among steroid users. Furthermore, they don’t break down upon entry.

These substances exclusively stimulate receptors; they don’t force hormones into your body. That being said, you won’t introduce a foreign matter into your organism, which will make everything that much smoother.

It is also noteworthy that the SARMs are much less potent than the steroids. This makes it easier to control. They don’t suppress natural testosterone production in the same way as steroids do.

As a result, SARM users rarely need a post-cycle therapy. SARMs have a very predictable effect, they don’t cause any ruckus within the body, and they are much safer to use.

Because of all this, you won’t reach the same impact with the SARMs as you would with the traditional steroids. Anabolic steroids are much more potent, but also much more dangerous.

On the other hand, we also need to mention that selective androgen receptor modulators are stronger than the natural hormone supplements.

Potential dangers of using SARMs

This question is hard to answer. If we were to simplify it, then yes, you may risk your health if you’re not careful.

But, the problem with SARMs is that we still don’t have enough data about these substances. We are especially clueless when it comes to potential long-term issues that they might cause.

There are a lot of different SARM products on the market. Most of them are being tested for the last few decades. Some of them have gotten the Australian government’s approval, but there are also a lot of them that haven’t.

This can be tricky for people who wish to use them for their health (given that SARMs can also be used as a hormonal therapy). If a substance can potentially deteriorate your state, you will think twice about consuming it.

Although this sounds harsh, we did learn a lot of things about these substances. It’s just that the studies are incomplete.

According to research, SARMs have the ability to suppress the production of testosterone. So much so that some scientists are contemplating the use of SARMs for reduction and prevention of male fertility.

Given how testosterone works for spermatozoids, you might reduce their count by using selective modulators for a certain period of time.

While these products are much safer than steroids, they do come with certain undesired effects. But, if you take a smaller dosage, these problems should be minimized.

Unfortunately, given that these products are popular among bodybuilders and fitness professionals, most of the users tend to go overboard with the dosage.

The truth is that we still have to learn more to be sure. We cannot guarantee someone’s safety when they use SARMs.

Are SARMs legal in Australia?

Let’s finally answer the main question.

Generally speaking, these substances are not illegal in Australia. But, they are categorized in Schedule 4 of the Poisons Standard. In other words, you would need a doctor’s prescription in order to use them.

Now, the problem is that most doctors are unwilling to prescribe SARMs to bodybuilders and others who want to improve their muscle mass. So, if you wish to use them purely for esthetics, there is a low chance that you’ll get the necessary permits.

Things get worse if you use them competitively. These items are banned by the World Anti-Doping Agency. By using them during a competition, you can get banned for a very long period of time.

Should you consider buying a SARM?

This one is really hard to answer and it comes down to your personal preference.

If you have already used steroids, and want to buy something safer, then SARMs may be a good alternative. We are not 100% sure about this because we still need more data.

On paper, they should be much better than the anabolic steroids, but you would be taking them at your own risk. Furthermore, given that probably no one would be willing to give you the prescription, you would have to buy it over-the-counter.
